About Kuang Si Falls Tours

An independent guide to one waterfall: Tat Kuang Si, 29 km southwest of Luang Prabang. We sell nothing, hold no bookings and run no vans. What we do is read each operator's listing line by line, check the park's own fees and rules against what is printed there, and say plainly where a tour disappoints people. The trips sit on the Kuang Si Falls tours comparison.

Why this site exists

Search for this waterfall and the guides that come back tell you the entry fee is 20,000 kip. It has been 60,000 kip since the last increase. They send you hiking to a secret pool that was fenced off when the staircase to The View was built. They recommend the climb to the cafe without mentioning that you cannot see the waterfall from the top, which is what most of the angry reviews up there are about.

None of that is secret. It is in the park's own signage, in recent visitor reports and in the operators' small print. Putting it next to the price is the entire job of this site.

Where the facts come from

Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions and age limits are read off each operator's own GetYourGuide listing on the date shown on the homepage, in US dollars. Prices move with the season, so treat them as the figure we saw rather than a quote.

Park fees, opening hours and swimming rules are checked against recent visitor reports and the operators who take groups in daily, and we say when a number was last verified. Where an operator admits something inconvenient in its own words, such as the advisory that the road between Pak Ou and the falls is long and bumpy enough that the two are better split across two days, we quote it rather than smooth it over.

Review quotes carry the reviewer's name, country and the month they travelled, exactly as GetYourGuide publishes them. We do not write testimonials.

What we do not do

We do not inspect the park, meet the guides or audit safety records. Judging whether the current in the lower pools is safe on a given morning takes someone standing beside them, and that is a job for the company you book with and for the park staff.

We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs.

How the site pays for itself

Links to tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.

That arrangement pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which tours appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them. The cheapest tour on the homepage earns us the least and it is the one we recommend for most visitors.

Corrections

Prices in Laos move, park rules change and trails close. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
